Elias Ppiros is an Australian Puppet Maker and Designer, working across the stage, screen, exhibition, and performance spaces. Elias holds an interest in merging the intersection of puppetry, audience interactivity and immersion, while exploring innovative approaches to performative contemporary puppetry.
Elias’ works hold the themes of encouraging the exploration of the imagination, bringing happiness out of others, and the belief of puppetry being a universal language.
Through these themes Elias aspires to make works that are accessible to all while embracing puppetry as a pathway to a rich, textural, and connected world.
Elias worked as a Puppet Maker and Miniature Puppet Maker for Season One of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s TV series Beep and Mort.
Elias has worked with various companies and organisations world-wide including the State Theatre Company of South Australia, State Opera South Australia, Handspring Puppet Company, Patch Theatre, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and Slingsby Theatre.
Some of Elias’ puppetry credits include: Home (Patch Theatre and Restless Dance), Beep and Mort (Windmill Pictures and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation), The Goat or, who is Sylvia? (State Theatre Company of South Australia and Sydney Theatre Company), and Characters: an interactive, puppet-based exhibition (Touring).
